About Me

beth-stebner-headshot-2017

I'm a writer, editor, reporter, talent specialist, and consultant with more than 15 years of experience at some of the city's top media outlets. My work has appeared in publications like the Wall Street Journal, VanityFair.com, the New York Times, New York Magazine, Yahoo Beauty, Extra Crispy, HelloGiggles, Bustle, and Modern Magazine, among others.

Most recently, I was the Associate Director of Talent for Morning Brew. During my tenure, I brought on nearly 80 new hires, including new newsletter teams and a fabulous new Creative Director, and launched the company’s very first Affinity Groups. Previously, I was the Lead Editorial Recruiter for all of New York Magazine, including The Cut, Vulture, Intelligencer, Curbed, and Grub Street, including the magazine’s first Diner-at-Large.

I started by editorial recruiting career at Hearst Magazines, where I served as the lead digital editorial recruiter, hiring across 22 brands including Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Marie Claire, Harper’s BAZAAR, Delish, Good Housekeeping, and Car & Driver, from editorial assistant to Editor in Chief.

Before that, I did a stint at the New York Daily News as Senior Lifestyle Editor, covering all things beauty, fashion, food, health, art, books, local news, and more. In the name of journalism, I played a Revolutionary War correspondent and traipsed around SoHo in 20-degree weather wearing a Kim Kardashian-inspired outfit. I left in March 2015 to spend several months playing the expat game in Sweden, Lithuania, and Italy (and threw caution to the wind and my waistline by eating pasta and gelato every day, no regrets) while also revamping my freelance career.

I've also worked at DailyMail.com, NBC Owned Television Stations, New York magazine, and the New York Post, where I got to interview my idol, Tina Fey, on my very first assignment (I was a total Kenneth the Page about it, though).

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Miami University, where I majored in English/Creative Writing and Mass Communications and participated in roughly half of the extracurriculars offered by the university, including choir, a literary magazine, hosting my own radio show, and competing on the equestrian team. I was voted into Phi Beta Kappa after graduation and in 2014 received the 18 0f 9 award from my alma mater, which recognizes outstanding young alumni.

In my spare time, I can often be found with hiking with my mini goldendoodle, Björn, reading at coffee shops, catching a play or show, or scowling at people who simultaneously walk and use their iPhones.

Or just binge-watching Netflix. Your choice.
